Friday was the perfect storm. I had the day at home, I had my period, and I was feeling tired. The scales had been quite kind, I was down to 15 stone 11.6lb so that was 2lb for the week so far, with 2 days to go. But then trouble hit.
Sunday 23 June – The 6 week review
It’s been 6 weeks today since I took my first jab. The time has gone really quickly. Things are starting to feel more normal now. I am less obsessed and enjoying the new feeling.
In total I have lost 1 stone 8.4 lb or 22.4 lbs. I thought it was time for a review of feelings, symptoms, and learnings.
Thursday 21 June – The exercise factor
This week I decided to step up my game and get back into exercise.
I have been to 2 classes this week and this morning my weight is down again. I’m at dead on 16 stone. So, the next day or two will be critical as I have to navigate the moving across that invisible line into the next stone! Do my scales understand the psychological impact of the difference between 16.0 and 15.13? I doubt it!
I am a fan of exercise, when it is doing something I enjoy. That is the simple and easy secret. Find something that you enjoy and then it doesn’t feel like an effort.
Wednesday 12 June – The first 5mg jab
I took my first 5mg jab on Sunday morning. For anyone keeping track this was my 5th jab. What happened to the 5th dose in my 2.5mg pen I hear you ask? I gave it to my Mum.
Thursday 6 June – The nutrition edition
I’m halfway through week 4 and the weight loss has slowed. I’m noticing that I am able to eat more. I find myself fancying my dinner a bit earlier. I’m still not eating any rubbish, it’s probably the longest I’ve ever gone without biscuits, chocolate, cake, crisps etc of any kind. I would usually be trying to replace junk with healthier junk, but still junk.
This week I have only lost 0.5lb so far, which takes my total to 17lb. I am not complaining. I went to Center Parcs for a week and came back lighter. I am determined to celebrate these wins.
I’ve spoken about calories and feel it’s time to talk nutrition.
Wednesday 29 May 2024 – Let’s talk about poop!
I have just gone 5 days without going to the loo. It’s ok, this story has a happy ending! I am still at Center Parcs, and, I have finally just been, I had last pooped on Friday morning!
Monday 27 May 2024 – The 3rd Jab and the 1st Stone
Woohoo, 2 weeks in and I have hit my first big milestone, 1 stone lost.
On Saturday I went out to a café with my friend and ordered an avocado and hummus sandwich, on thick brown bread. I ate half of it and stopped. Then I wrapped it in my napkin and popped it in my bag to take home. She asked me if it was because I was full, or if I was just choosing to only eat half. My honest answer was, I don’t know.
Thursday 23 May 2024 – The calories count
I’m calorie counting again, it’s weird. It’s easy because I’m not eating much. And I’m counting for 2 reasons. Firstly, it is because I feel that I have to re-learn what a ‘normal’ amount to eat is. But also, to make sure I am eating enough.
Tuesday 21 May 2024 – The secret 5th dose
I have joined a couple of Facebook pages and have been reading everyone’s posts. It is a bit scary how people are finding their workarounds for using the medication. I have been particularly fascinated by the discovery of the free 5th dose.
Saturday 18 May 2024 – The food noise
Today is day six and I have no negative symptoms to report. I’m having normal, regular bowel movements, I haven’t noticed any feelings of sickness, no headaches, not a single side effect that I can identify. Well, just one. The food noise is gone.
