Business as usual

Someone commented on one of the Facebook groups I’m in, that most of the posts are people on 2.5mg and 5mg, and there doesn’t seem to be many people commenting that have been on this for longer. I think it’s because, once the initial excitement has gone off, and the process of injecting becomes something you do without thinking about, and the weight loss becomes slow but steady, you enter the ‘business as usual zone’. And do not feel the need to comment and respond to every post.

I think I am there.

Now don’t get me wrong, I think this is a good thing. I am no longer reading the instructions every time I inject, obsessing over whether or not to go up a dose, what to eat, am I eating enough protein, have I been to the loo, it is all just starting to feel like normal.

This week I have lost 1lb. It is the week of my period. And I realised, looking back, that the week that I only lost 0.8lb was also a period week.  I always crave more carbs on my period, and yesterday was the perfect storm of day 1 period, and day 6 jab! I ate and ate all day.

2 slices sourdough toast and marmite, oatcakes and Nutella (I don’t even know why that was what I wanted) an Eat Natural cereal bar, a slice of black forest gateau from the freezer, 2 spicy beanburgers, oven chips, a mini mint magnum.

This was probably the most bingey day I have had on Mounjaro, and it reads like a previous ‘normal’ day for me.

This morning I have injected, and got on the scales to see the expected 2 lb gain, I won’t count it because I now count my official weigh in day as a Friday.

I switched my official, record my weight day, to Friday a couple of weeks ago. And it is all part of the ‘business as usual’ process.

My week has now firmly settled into;

Sunday Jab Day – and I can eat whatever I want, we often go out for Sunday Lunch as it’s my favourite meal.

Monday – no carb, very low calories

Tuesday – no carb, very low calories

Wednesday – no carb, very low calories

Thursday – low or no carb – may eat a little more

Friday – weigh in (this is usually my lowest weight point for the week) then high carb day, and I think of it as my ‘cheat if I want to’ day.

Saturday – I can be low calories, or happy to be more flexible if we are going out.

Sunday Jab Day

This week I have jabbed a day early because next Saturday I go on holiday for a week and we fly at dawn, so I will jab on Friday. I reasoned that I would walk my jab forward one day each week, and then I do not have to take my pen with me. I will jab on Friday night before we leave, and then again, the Saturday afternoon as we return. It means I will have had 2 weeks of jabbing 1 day early then 2 weeks of jabbing one day late, as I will return to my Sunday as usual the following week. Hope that makes sense, it makes sense to me.

The holiday is a lakeside resort in the Austrian Mountains. I have been so busy the last few weeks that I cannot wait. I hope to walk, read, swim, relax, and not have to think about what to cook for dinner. We are on a half-board package. I have been starting to gather my clothes to pack and am taking shorts for the first time in a very long time.

I am so happy to have reached my ‘business as usual ‘stage before my first holiday. I hope this means that I can relax and not worry that I will somehow undo all the good I have done and put all the weight back on. Yes, I have allowed this thought to ruin holidays after weight loss before.

Now I’m off to pack, and I can take whatever I want from my wardrobe because IT ALL FITS!!

    Happy holidays Jacqui!
This weekend marked me leaving the ‘obese’ BMI category, and losing a full stone since starting MJ. Very happy girl here.
