This week I have been the most unwell since I started on the jab. The diarrhoea that began last Saturday night is only just subsiding now, a week later.
If this was how I felt from week 1 I would definitely be asking myself “is this worth it?” And I have seen reports of people who have felt like this from the start. Thankfully, as I am 11 weeks in, I feel confident that this will pass. And with this weight loss, YES, it’s worth it!!
So, this is how my week played out.
Monday. I woke up and was immediately sick. Only a little bit because all I had eaten the day before was a slice and a half of marmite on toast.
The rest of the day I ate a protein bar, and for dinner had some fish pie, peas and a yogurt.
On Tuesday my poop was still liquid. I spent the whole day feeling as limp as a bit of wet string.
On Wednesday I started to feel much brighter. The stomach cramps were gone, I had more energy, and I was able to eat a bit more. When I went to the loo it was still liquid but less urgent.
Thursday and Friday I had a wonderful trip to Champneys at Eastwell Manor in Kent with my friend. It was lovely to relax. I even had a glass of red wine.
This was only the 2nd drink I have had on the jab. I didn’t want to go so long that it became a thing that I felt I couldn’t ‘break’. You know when you have managed to keep something up for a lot of days in a row, suddenly it feels wrong to break the chain. I didn’t want to get to the point where I thought I couldn’t have it. I enjoyed my single glass, and it did not leave me wanting more.
As for weight loss this week, I started last Sunday at 15st 5.6lbs
On Monday I was 15st 4lb
By Thursday I was 15st 2lb
Saturday it was back to 15st 4lb
Sunday, weigh in ‘official day’ it is 15st 4.8lb
I’m assuming that the dehydration was responsible for the rapid weight loss. It made the sick feeling worth it to see the loss, but I was kidding myself.
Last night the food noise was loud. I had eaten carbs Friday night, a fruit scone and cheese and crackers, and more carbs on Saturday night, risotto, and 4 biscuits!
The biscuits were calling to me from the cupboard. They were the 2 packs of 2 biscuits I had brought back from my stay at the hotel. Normally they would not have been in the cupboard. The combination of seeing my weight go up and feeling physically better combined to trigger the ‘oh what the heck, I might as well eat the biscuits’ thinking.
So, I have finished up 0.8lbs down on the whole week. Is it worth it?
This has been my ‘worst’ week so far. I’ve felt ill, I’ve been ill, I’ve eaten several ice-creams, seen my weight go way down and pop up, I’ve also been away and had a lovely time and enjoyed a glass of wine. And, at the end of it all I weigh slightly less than I weighed last week.
Is it worth it? Hell Yes!!
I love the examples you provided.
Thanks for the great resource.
This was very enlightening.
