I kept reading in the Facebook groups about people experiencing diarrhoea.  I admit to thinking, I wish, at least with that you lose weight, unlike constipation where you seem to hang on to it. But oh my, be careful what you wish for. It has not been too bad, it has only lasted 24 hours, so far, and I am starting to feel better.

It has been a week of symptoms.

On Monday I started to burp during the night, and it lasted all day. It felt like I had downed a 2-litre bottle of coke. And I hadn’t had anything fizzy at all.

My appetite suppression had been very high during the day.

All I had was a protein shake at about 11am and at 5pm a M&S cottage pie, which I couldn’t finish. I then went to aerobics, but I had no energy. It was a rather half-hearted attempt, but I did it.

On Tuesday I had a protein shake and then embarked on a mega cleaning task at work. I stood up quickly and nearly blacked out. Thankfully my colleague was on hand with an emergency protein bar.

On Wednesday my weight was down 1.5lbs, which makes everything feel worth it, though maybe it shouldn’t.

I celebrated with a rather gorgeous Almond croissant and later had some home-made chilli and rice.

Thursday the burps were back. They do not taste or smell bad, which is something that lots of people have said in the groups. I can alleviate them with a Rennie.

Which takes me to Saturday.

I hadn’t eaten until about 3pm and then I had a cold sausage sandwich. My shopping had arrived, and I had ordered a box of mini magnums because I had fancied one the day before when the sun was shining. So, I had one. A nice little treat, only 140 calories.

Then for some reason I decided I wanted to order a takeout. I went through all the options in my head and settled on a Chinese.

I had 2 spare-ribs, 3 chicken wings, a couple of wan tons, and quite a few prawn crackers. Then another mini magnum, then another one.

And at 10pm bang, explosive diarrhoea! I have never been so ill so soon after eating. All night I had the burps and continued to run to the loo.

Sunday morning, I feel horrid. Even my cup of tea has gone straight through. I have no energy. I have spent the entire day on the sofa in my dressing gown. Nil by mouth.

I am not sure on the science why this type of food had had this effect. But enough people have experienced them that it has to be the drug and not just coincidence.

Mounjaro is supposed to slow the transit of food through your gut. Maybe my body is clever enough to know that is doesn’t want this in my system any longer than it needs to.

It has certainly been enough to put me off doing it again.

Now I am going to sit very still and very quietly and hope that the worst is over!

Sunday 21 July – Let’s talk about poop take 2!
