xmas food

It’s the 5th of January and normal service has resumed. How did Christmas on the skinny jab go? it was good. I gained 1lb in the run up to the big week, then stayed the same for a week, and this week I have lost 0.6lb. So I am 0.4lb heavier than pre-xmas. I am not going to complain about that!

In previous blogs I have talked about setting a limit, when I reach my target, of say, 7lbs. So if I go on holiday or over indulge over xmas, I am ‘allowed’ to gain up to 7lbs and then take drastic action to get back to target. The fact that my first xmas has seen such a small change makes me wonder if ‘allowing’ myself to gain 7lbs isn’t necessary. Maybe I can just see my weight go up 1 or 2lbs and then go back?

I have had a few rough days though. I have continued my typical pattern of eating more towards the end of the week than the beginning. But I have had really bad burps the last couple of Mondays, where I have eaten far more than usual at the weekend, then taken the jab, and OMG. I had convinced myself that the main culprit of the burps was if I ate too much red meat immediately before the jab. Thinking that I have eaten something slow to digest and then taken medication to further reduce the speed of digestion, so what did I expect. But this past couple of weeks, it has just been volume of food. I have been eating pretty normally Fri- Sun, not noticing much, if any, appetite suppression, by the end of the week. So I feel comfortable that is is time to move up a dose.

Today I have taken my first 10mg jab. I am quite proud of the fact that I could have taken this as early as week 13, if I had just done the minimum of 4 weeks per dose. The fact that it has taken me to week 35 to get here I think, is pretty good.

In another moment of confession, I have not made any mention of exercise for a number of weeks. My Dance Fit enthusiasm lasted for precisely 4 classes way back in July. What with it now being January, it is the time when I typically start all these again. It will be an interesting experience to go back to class a good couple of stone lighter than the last time I was there. I have also downloaded my favourite running program, Beginners Luck, The app is called Boost. It takes you from 0-60 mins non stop running in about 10 weeks. I last did it about 7 years ago. I am excited to do it again, but will wait for the better weather. Click here for more info https://bygeorgeanderson.com/app/

My other new app is Team RH. I have always loved this program. Ritchie is fab. And he has created the first app and support program for people taking the jabs. He has allowed a lower calorie target to take into account the appetite suppression, and added a fat goal to the protein and fibre ones. This approach should reduce muscle loss and the dreaded ‘Ozempic face’! Click here for more info https://teamrhfitness.com/

The book is very nearly ready for publishing, so watch this space for the announcement. I am so excited for 2025. It is going to be my best year yet!

Well done! Thank you for continuing to blog – I do enjoy the updates.
I have had a tough, emotional couple of months and would normally pile on the pounds. But am pleased and relieved that I am still pretty much the same as I was early December. I’m still on 5mg (and had minimal side effects) but agree with you that if I’ve overeaten before jab day I am more uncomfortable. I started C25K in June and can run 5K and I have just signed up to Joe Wicks to try to build my muscle – my bum needs a bit more padding 😅 I have 11 pounds to lose to get to a healthy weight BMI so here’s to 2025. Take care.
