shopping bags

I mentioned before that I was working with a stylist.

I cannot recommend highly enough the power of learning how to dress for my new size and shape.

Here is the testimonial I wrote for her, and I thought I would share it with you here.

“I lost a significant amount of weight and realised I had no idea how to dress for my smaller size. I had always chosen clothes based on what I could get away with. What would cover my arms, my tummy, my bum, my thighs. I never chose something because I simply liked it. And I did not want to invest in decent quality, always hoping that my size was temporary.

Working with Melanie has been transformational.

Discovering the colours that flattered me, not the ones that distracted people from me. Discovering my style and accepting that I am a petite person with an hourglass figure. These were not words I ever expected to be associated with. Then going through my wardrobe and discarding about 80% of it! It felt like another weight had been lifted.

My favourite part has been going on a shopping trip and trying on clothes I would never have dreamed of. Melanie did all the hard work, selecting items and putting them to one side for me in advance. I felt like a celebrity, walking into a store and there being a rail of clothes that had been selected just for me!

The very first store we went to was Oliver Bonas. A store that I love, but had never purchased any item of clothing from. The first item Melanie handed me was an emerald green jumpsuit in a size 12! My first thought was ‘yeah, right, good luck with that!’ But it fitted. And I love it.

After that I was willing to try on anything she suggested, and go into stores that I never imagined would be available to me. I have my first ever jumpsuit, well to be perfectly honest I have three of them! I have a very cute denim jacket from Hobbs, and 2 very stylish leather jackets from All Saints. Along with a rather short, green, needle cord skirt from Oliver Bonas.

When I first got home with all my purchases, and I bought a lot, I felt a bit overwhelmed. I am used to saving nice clothes for special occasions, and I couldn’t imagine wearing these new, beautiful and expensive clothes every day. Melanie reminded me that I could wear whatever I want every day. I can experiment and mix and match to create outfits.

The final step was having my first make up lesson, age 55. I am enjoying learning to experiment with eye make up and lipsticks that actually suit me.

Thank you Melanie from the bottom of my heart. I look inside my wardrobe and I am so excited to choose my outfit, every day. I feel proud of what I have achieved losing the weight. And now I have a style that is all my own. And I love it.

It was also wonderful to go through this whole process that was just for me. It has felt decadent and indulgent and I loved every minute. Melanie is so good at what she does. She can see exactly how to create a look that works for you.

If you are looking to spice up your look, or like me, start again. If you want to fall in love with your wardrobe, then I cannot recommend Melanie enough.

Thank you so much. I have loved working with you.”

I am off to Egypt again next week with my Mum. We are both about a stone and a half (21lbs) lighter than when we were there last November.

I am still taking the 10mg dose. My Mum increased to 12.5mg a few weeks ago. I am finding the suppression is still working for me well.

Last week I had an unhappy tummy for a few days. I had diarrhoea and didn’t really eat for 3 days. My weight went down a few pounds as I was dehydrated. It was almost worth feeling awful for the extra loss. And I saw my weight go into the 12 stone bracket for the first time in about 25 years.

I am still loving it. Still feeling amazing. Still telling everyone who will listen that this could be the answer that could help them.

I have honestly never been happier.

Now what to wear today?!!
