It’s been a week so far in an all-inclusive resort with no access to scales! And I am having a gloriously relaxing time.
Firstly, some practical information.
Airport security searched my hand luggage at Birmingham airport! Panic! He said it was the ice packs in my cute pen holder that triggered it. My mum had the exact same thing in her bag, but she wasn’t stopped, so it is still pretty random. He said that, because I had my prescription letter with me (provided by Asda) it was ok. Otherwise, he would have had to take the ice packs away. Not the pen. Just the ice packs.
He was a very nice man and asked me what it was for and how often I injected. He told me he was a type 1 diabetic and injected 6 times per day. It was a very friendly interaction. I hope this helps and reassures anyone planning to travel. Always carry the letter, and check that you update it when you increase your dose so the prescription exactly matches what you are carrying.
I am staying in an all-inclusive resort but it’s not fancy. There are just a couple of buffet restaurants an Italian and an Egyptian specialty restaurant. I don’t really drink much so choosing to be alcohol free is an easy decision for me.
The first morning I was hungry. I had not eaten the evening we arrived and was ready for an omelette. I ate about 3 bites, and I was done. It was almost a relief that I feel the same as at home. I continued to eat very little for the first 3 days or so.
Friday morning, I felt like breakfast and had a crepe with Nutella on it. It was heaven. I am also pleased that when I do feel hungry and fancy something I can still enjoy it.
And as for how it feels, lying on a sun lounger, by the pool, 5 stone or so less than the last time I was here, bloody brilliant. I feel like Davina Bloody McCall!! I know that I am still fat, still verifiably obese, but I feel great. And in clothes I look pretty good too.
Putting on my one and only size 14 dress made me feel positively like Cinderella.
And I keep thinking how it will feel next year when I am back here again weighing… I have no idea. But it’s an exciting thought.
Now I have to go, this sunbathing will not do itself.
Bye for now.
