That sounds like a backhanded compliment but feels like an achievement to be ‘only’ overweight!
Today I tipped the scales at 12stone 1lb which creeps my BMI into 29.9
At my largest, 19 stone 10lb, my BMI was 48.9 which used to be called ‘morbidly obese’ until someone decided that sounded just plain rude. So now they call it ‘severely obese’.
Anyone who thinks I have chosen the route of skinny jabs for vanity could not be more wrong. The health risks of being severely obese include heart disease, type 2 diabetes and high blood pressure. I know there are risks associated with the jabs but there are far more risks with being that much overweight.
Yes, I admit, I love being slimmer, and buying fashionable, smaller clothes. But the health benefits are far more important to me.
Last week I also started running again. I follow a brilliant program called Beginners Luck by George Anderson. It is a program that takes you from 0-60 minutes continuous running, over 10 levels. You can progress up the levels in your own pace and really fit the program to your own ability.
There is an accompanying App called Boost available to download and George talks you through the whole program. It is like taking your own personal coach or trainer with you. He is a fantastic coach, not just in the area of running, but also motivation and mindset.
I completed the program 10 years in 2015 and here I am again, 10 years older but many stones lighter, doing it again. It helps that I get to run along the seafront and spot seals as I go.
You can find the program, app and book here https://bygeorgeanderson.com/
That’s it from me, just a short one today. I hope that you are achieving your goals and enjoying the journey.
